Met Office weather warning as North Wales to get 60mm deluge in just six hours

The Met Office has issued a weather warning for North Wales. The latest alert is for heavy rain which will impact north west Wales.

It is due to start at 3am on Wednesday and last until midday on the same day. There is the potential of up to 60mm falling in under six hours.

This will bring the risk of flooding to parts of the region. There are already flood alerts in place across North Wales after recent bouts of rain.

It also follow a weather warning for wind on Sunday and Monday. Sign up for the North Wales Live newsletter sent twice daily to your inbox

The Met Office said: “A spell of heavy rain is expected to affect parts of northwest Wales during the first part of Wednesday.

“30-40 mm of rain is expected to fall widely with a few places, chiefly on south-west facing hills, receiving 50-60 mm within 6 hours.

“Heavy rain may lead to some travel delays and flooding in a few places during Wednesday morning.”

Tips from the Met Office

Be prepared for weather warnings to change quickly: when a weather warning is issued, the Met Office recommends staying up to date with the weather forecast in your area.

People cope better with power cuts when they have prepared for them in advance. It’s easy to do; consider gathering torches and batteries, a mobile phone power pack and other essential items.

Give yourself the best chance of avoiding delays by checking road conditions if driving, or bus and train timetables, amending your travel plans if necessary.

Check if your property could be at risk of flooding. If so, consider preparing a flood plan and an emergency flood kit.
