Meryl Streep and Anne Hathaway Reunite in The Devil Wears Prada 2 Trailer

Meryl Streep officially slips back into Miranda Priestly’s red high heels — and reunites with Anne Hathaway’s Andy Sachs — in The Devil Wears Prada 2 teaser trailer. In the trailer, which dropped on Wednesday, November 12, Miranda (Streep) struts her stuff in a pair of fashionable red stilettos while walking through the Runway magazine office. As Madonna’s “Vogue” plays in the background, fans slowly get a better look at the iconic magazine editor-in-chief’s high-fashion look, which hasn’t changed a bit since the original Devil Wears Prada film. While Miranda makes her ways through the hallowed halls of her New York City office building, images of runway shows, fittings and photo shoots flash across the screen. Once in the elevator, Miranda, wearing a houndstooth shirt, black blouse, black sunglasses and a red belt to match her heels, is joined by former assistant Andy (Hathaway). “Miranda,” Andy says before giving her mentor a nod. “Took you long enough,” Miranda replies with a straight face. Andy then puts on her own black sunglasses and gives a cheeky smile as the elevator doors close. “A sequel? For spring? Groundbreaking,” 20th Century Studios captioned the trailer drop via social media, revealing that Streep, 76, and Hathaway, 43, will be back for the sequel alongside Emily Blunt and Stanley Tucci on May 1, 2026. Streep and Hathaway first made a splash as Miranda and Andy in 2006’s The Devil Wears Prada. In the film, recent graduate and aspiring journalist Andy gets a job as Miranda’s assistant at Runway magazine. Despite not wanting to work in fashion, Andy soon finds herself thrown into the lion’s den and slowly becomes a rising star in Miranda’s eyes. After breaking her back to make Miranda happy — and falling victim to the glamour of the job — Andy eventually quits, leaving her future up in the air. Rumors began swirling in 2024 of a sequel, which was officially confirmed in May. Hathaway and Streep began filming over the summer with Tucci, who will reprise his role as Miranda’s right-hand man, Nigel, and Blunt, who will be back as fellow assistant Emily Charlton. There will also be several newcomers, including Kenneth Branagh, who will play Miranda’s new husband. Simone Ashley, Lucy Liu, Justin Theroux, B. J. Novak, Pauline Chalamet, Helen J. Shen, Conrad Ricamora, Caleb Hearon, Rachel Bloom and Patrick Brammall have all been confirmed as cast members though their roles remain under wraps. However, Andy’s ex-boyfriend, Nate, played by Adrian Grenier will not be back for the sequel, Entertainment Weekly reported in June. While the cast is star-studded and glimpses of the stars shooting in NYC over the summer confirm their style is still intact, the plot of the sequel has been heavily guarded. Puck News, however, reported in July 2024 that the follow-up film would show Miranda still running Runway, navigating it amid the current-day media landscape. Emily is reportedly working as an executive at a luxury brand that advertises with the magazine, while Andy’s connection to Runways is unknown. The Devil Wears Prada 2 hits theaters on May 1, 2026.
