Meliá hotels expands in Palma with new city-center hotel

Meliá Hotels International has expanded its footprint in the city of Palma with the official opening of the Palma Avenidas hotel, its eighth location in the Balearic capital. Positioned on Plaza de España, this establishment caters to the rising demand for urban travel experiences in a city renowned for both business and leisure. The launch further consolidates the group's presence in its home city and underscores its strategic focus on city destinations. The property offers 68 rooms designed for practical comfort, targeting modern travellers who look to seamlessly blend work commitments and leisure activities, a market segment often referred to as 'bleisure'. The hotel incorporates spaces suitable for meetings and small events, accommodating up to eighty guests and providing a central location for gatherings in Palma. Prime location and enhanced transport links Located adjacent to an extensive range of dining options, retail outlets, and key cultural attractions, Palma Avenidas benefits from its proximity to the city's main intermodal station. This transport hub offers convenient connections by train, bus, and metro, simplifying travel for guests exploring Palma or venturing further across the island. Meliá's urban tourism strategy The opening of Palma Avenidas forms part of Meliá Hotels International's broader initiative to boost urban tourism within Palma, a destination enjoying strong international interest. According to the group, this hotel will undergo future refurbishment to bring it in line with the INNSiDE by Meliá brand. This transition will focus on a lifestyle-oriented approach and deeper integration of the city's local culture, aiming to deliver an experience that extends beyond traditional accommodation. Gabriel Escarrer, Chairman and CEO of Meliá Hotels International, remarked: "For our company, growing in Palma is much more than opening a hotel: it is about celebrating our Mallorcan origins with pride and committing to quality tourism that inspires people to discover the city responsibly and in connection with its culture."
