Gauteng Education MEC Matome Chiloane will on Sunday give an update on the online admissions placements for Grades 1 and 8 learners for the 2026 academic year.
Online applications for both grades closed at the end of August, 2025.
Gauteng Education spokesperson Steve Mabona says the MEC will also give an update on the upcoming matric exams.
“The placement period will officially begin on Thursday, 16 October 2025. This is when placement offers will be sent to parents and guardians who have completed their applications,” says Mabona.

Mabona says MEC Chiloane will also provide an update on Gauteng’s readiness for the upcoming 2025 October/November National Senior Certificate (NSC) examinations.
