The opposition Malawi Congress Party (MCP) is confident of winning the Speaker of the House of Representatives seat. According to party spokesperson Jessie Kabwila, Peter Dimba, who is contesting the seat for the party, is a mature individual and has successfully chaired various committees in the House of Representatives, making him well-qualified for the position. Kabwila added that Dimba does not engage in politics against anyone but works to benefit Malawians. She described Dimba as a calm person who is not seeking the seat for personal gain and therefore called on independent MPs to vote for him.
