McDaniel Should Get Fired If They Have Another Bad Game Thursday Night

I know it’s early in the season, but let’s be honest, the Miami Dolphins’ season isn’t going anywhere. I don’t see any hope that this team turns things around.

The best this team can hope for is that the younger players get better as the season goes on to show they have a future with this team.

If the Dolphins get blown out Thursday night by their hated rival, the Buffalo Bills, then the Dolphins should go ahead and fire head coach Mike McDaniel. It would make too much sense because the Dolphins would have 10 days before their next game and get them a head start on looking for their next coach. Clearly, McDaniel knows he is up against it, as you can see by his body language.

Sunday’s loss to the New England Patriots was frustrating on many levels. The biggest thing for me was that the Dolphins keep making the same stupid mistakes repeatedly since McDaniel has been the head coach.

Late in the game, the Dolphins are down, and the offense gets a delay of game penalty because McDaniel can’t get the play in quicker, or there is some communication blunder. That has been a common theme. The team commits the same penalties week in and week out: illegal shifts, false starts, etc.

I feared this would happen under McDaniel because he is the opposite of former head Brian Flores. Say what you want about Flores, his teams were well disciplined and didn’t commit stupid penalties.

The other thing that drives me nuts is that McDaniel is so stubborn about sticking with the passing game. It’s clear teams have caught on to his passing game, and there are fewer big plays. All the talk this off-season is that this team is going to get tougher, especially in short yardage.

The Dolphins drafted Ollie Gordon in the 6th round, and he is a big physical back, but McDaniel isn’t giving him the ball enough. He had one carry for 8 yards, and he carried a defender with him. Give him the damn ball more.
