There will be service suspensions in October while crews install collision-protection technology on the Green Line and continue signal upgrade work on the Orange Line, the MBTA said Wednesday.
On the Green Line, service will be suspended between North Station and Union Square from 8 p.m. on Oct. 3 through Oct. 5, the agency said.
Free shuttle buses will replace trains between North Station and Medford/Tufts, officials said. There will be no shuttle buses to Union Square, but riders can take regular bus service.
Train service will be suspended between Kenmore and Riverside from 8 p.m. on Oct 24 through Oct. 31, the agency said.
Express and local shuttle bus service will replace trains. Express buses will make stops at Riverside, Woodland, Waban, Eliot, and Newton Highlands before running express to Copley, officials said.

Local shuttle buses will make all stops between Riverside and Kenmore, except for Beaconsfield in Brookline.
The agency encouraged Beaconsfield riders to walk four minutes to the Dean Road station on the C branch.
On the Orange Line, service will be suspended between North Station and Forest Hills from Oct. 11 through Oct. 13, the authority said.
Shuttle buses will make stops between Forest Hills and Back Bay, officials said. There will be no shuttle buses between Back Bay and North Station; riders are encouraged to take the Green Line instead.
