Natasha Poonawalla, the OG queen of maximalism, is back, offering glimpses of pieces that few could ever hope to own. This time it was an archival Chanel “Miami Vice” pistol heel from the 2009 Cruise collection. The shoes were designed in collaboration with bespoke shoemaker Massaro. Natasha chose them in black and paired them with a sequinned dress and cape from The Row and a Valentino bag. She shared a couple of snaps on Instagram, writing, “Attended a beautiful gala hosted by my gorgeous friend Natalia Vodianova and Sheikha Al Mayassa in partnership with PSG and the Naked Heart Foundation.” She continued, “The evening wasn’t just about glamour, it was about generosity, awareness, and hope. The Naked Heart Foundation does incredible work supporting children with autism and their families, creating inclusive opportunities, and spreading understanding worldwide.” The wife of billionaire business tycoon Adar Poonawalla, CEO and owner of the Serum Institute of India, Natasha is celebrated for blurring the lines between art and fashion. Her striking ensembles regularly bring the style fraternity to a standstill. In an interview with Vogue India, published in 2021, she reflected on her avant-garde wardrobe and the reactions it draws. “Often people couldn’t understand what I was wearing. They’d say, ‘What’s that? A dish antenna?’ My husband has always said, ‘If you love it, do it.’ If you’re comfortable being ridiculously dressed, how does it matter to anybody else?” Read: Nita Ambani Goes Festive in Banarasi Brocade Lehenga Celebrating the 9 Avatars of Goddess Durga Her Met Gala appearances in particular have pushed the boundaries of aesthetics. At the 2022 edition, she wore a handcrafted gold tulle Sabyasachi saree with a sculptural, handmade metal bustier by Schiaparelli. The theme was ‘In America: An Anthology of Fashion’ and her headgear was a metallic contraption that enveloped her torso and head.
