Former Masterchef contestant, Lisa Addison, has traded the television spotlight for a life dedicated to nourishing residents in a Scottish care home. Lisa first graced our screens with her culinary prowess on the renowned cooking show back in 2022, impressing the judges with her array of delicious dishes. Now, she’s putting her skills to good use as the head chef at Blanefield House Care Home in rural Stirling , serving up mouth-watering meals for the elderly residents there. The 42-year-old, from Killearn , who previously starred on Masterchef, expressed her desire to utilise her platform from the show to inspire young people grappling with their identity. Once married to ex-husband John for 14 years, with whom she shares three children, Lisa proudly shared her same-sex relationship on the show at the age of 34. She has since been happily married to her wife, Rachel, for six years, and together they have a step-daughter and welcomed a baby in 2023. Now, Lisa is set to revolutionise elder care cuisine at the Blanefield facility. Having previously worked as a carer, Lisa brings firsthand knowledge of the unique dietary needs of older adults to her role at Blanefield House. Here, she leads the kitchen team in crafting menus that not only meet medical requirements but also deliver restaurant-quality meals in a care setting. Lisa said: “I was running a successful private dining business as well as a domestic cleaning business, however when approached by Bobby, the care home manager, I was immediately interested in the job because of the passion she showed for the home and the residents. A further meeting with the managing director Puja, and it was an easy decision to close my two businesses and take the head chef job. “Everything is cooked fresh every day, we have deliveries from the finest local suppliers regularly, it’s a dream job for any chef.” The avid Celtic supporter applied to feature on MasterChef as a means of validating her culinary prowess. She expressed: “I wanted to know if I was good enough. I spent lockdown like most at home because I couldn’t work, and that really ignited my passion for learning new techniques and recipes. “I’m just a regular girl from Stirling, who lives in a small village and who had a dream. I’m proof that it’s never too late to be you, to open yourself up to the world and follow your dreams. Cooking gives you a sense of freedom, and I’d love to instil that in people.”
