A massive fire erupted in a commercial high-rise in Mumbai’s western suburb of Jogeshwari on Thursday morning. As per the officials, no casualties or reports of injuries have come forth as of now. However, a few people are stranded on the top floor of another wing of the building. The fire broke out at JNS Business Centre near Gandhi School around 10:50 am. A civic official said 10-15 persons are stranded in another wing of the building. “They are safe. The rescue operation is underway,” he told PTI. As per the latest developments, 14 people have been rescued. Various agencies have been mobilised at the scene, and the dousing efforts are underway. More details about the fire, including what triggered it, are awaited. In another incident reported from Kolkata, panic spread after a fire broke out in a building housing a printing press and several shops in central Kolkata on Thursday morning. The incident caused severe damage in the congested area. As per the officials, the fire, which started in the two-storey building on Amherst Street around 8 am, has been doused, and cooling operations are underway. No injuries were reported. Six fire engines were deployed to control the flames, which spread rapidly due to a large stock of inflammable materials, including empty oil containers stored inside the press.
