Mass. motorcyclist dies after falling from overpass in Providence

A Massachusetts motorcyclist has died after falling from an overpass in Providence, Rhode Island, on Sunday.
Rhode Island State Police troopers and the Providence Fire Department responded to the scene of a single-vehicle crash involving a motorcycle on Route 6 west near the Route 10 south interchange shortly after 5:30 p.m.
When they arrived, troopers said they found a black Kawasaki motorcycle on its side in the travel lane.
The preliminary investigation indicates that the motorcycle hit the high-speed barrier while attempting to negotiate a turn. The impact caused the driver to be ejected. He was thrown off the Route 6 overpass, coming to rest about 60 feet below on a dirt embankment.
The driver, identified by state police as 26-year-old Cedrix Teixeira, of Bridgewater, was taken to Rhode Island Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead as a result of injuries suffered in the crash.
The crash remains under investigation by state police.
