LAHORE – Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has said that Pakistan and Germany share the values of peace, development, and human dignity, emphasizing the two nations’ longstanding partnership built on democracy and cooperation. She made these remarks during a meeting with Derya Türk-Nachbaur, a member of the German Parliament, in Lahore. The discussion covered a wide range of areas including women’s empowerment, education, youth exchange programs, environmental protection, and clean energy initiatives. She congratulated the Friedrich Ebert Foundation (FES) on its 100th anniversary and commended its 35 years of service in Pakistan, noting its vital role in promoting democracy and social justice. Highlighting Pakistan and Germany’s shared democratic values, the Chief Minister praised Derya Türk-Nachbaur’s advocacy for inclusive policymaking, gender equality, and human rights. She proposed that FES organize training workshops for lawmakers, young leaders, and women parliamentarians to strengthen democratic governance. Reiterating her government’s commitment to women’s empowerment, she mentioned flagship initiatives such as the E-Bike Scheme, Honahar Scholarship Program, and Women Inclusive Program, designed to enhance women’s participation in the economy.
