Marvin Harrison Jr. addresses father's controversial comments

A Monday morning story revealed that Hall of Fame wide receiver Marvin Harrison Sr. felt it had been "very hard" to watch the Arizona Cardinals' offense that features his son, second-year wide receiver Marvin Harrison Jr., throughout the ongoing season. Harrison Jr. was then his team's leading receiver during its surprising 27-17 "Monday Night Football" win at the Dallas Cowboys that improved the Cardinals to 3-5 on the campaign. Following that result, Harrison Jr. addressed the controversial comments made by his father. Marvin Harrison Jr. doesn't necessarily agree with father's comments about Arizona offense "I think just the biggest thing is anytime someone speaks on something, you don’t want it to be directly from the player," Harrison Jr. explained, per Eva Geitheim of Sports Illustrated. "Everyone has their own opinions. In [the] article, he said you know that’s how he feels, not how I feel. I think that’s good to mention because I trust in all the guys. I know everyone works really hard throughout the week to be successful, not only for me individually, but as a team. I just try to do my part, be accountable on my end, and do my best to help the team." ESPN's Josh Weinfuss revealed that Harrison Sr. couldn't "deal" with what he had previously seen from the Arizona offense. As NFL Media's Grant Gordon noted, Harrison Jr. then tallied a career-best seven receptions for 96 yards and a touchdown while catching passes thrown by backup quarterback Jacoby Brissett. Brissett was starting in place of Kyler Murray, who missed a third straight contest due to a lingering foot injury. Following the win, Cardinals head coach Jonathan Gannon confirmed that a healthy Murray will remain the club's full-time QB1 over Brissett. "Put his pads on. Showed up," Brissett said about how Harrison Jr. performed versus Dallas. "I mean, once he got off the bus, I knew he was gonna be open. We knew we were gonna get our chances outside. This has been building for him, and it's still a step in the right direction. You saw it in his eyes when he got off the bus. ...Just super happy for him. I know he wants a couple more, and I do, too. There's a couple things that I wanted to get to him. But just super happy for him." Marvin Harrison Jr. grateful for Marvin Harrison Sr. According to Michael David Smith of Pro Football Talk, Harrison Jr. shared that his famous dad is busy coaching Jett Harrison, a high school sophomore wide receiver. "He’s done a great job of just being a father," Harrison Jr. added. "He’s more hard on my younger brother now. He just lets me go out there and play." It's unclear if Harrison Jr. will find himself playing with Brissett or a recovered Murray during Arizona's game at the Seattle Seahawks (6-2) this coming Sunday afternoon. As of Tuesday morning, ESPN BET had the Cardinals as 6.5-point road underdogs for that matchup.
