Hollywood’s legendary actor Robert Redford’s sudden death on September 16 has shocked the entire film industry. The Oscar-winning actor died in his sleep at his Utah home, leaving everyone mourning. Following his demise, both Marvel and DCU were seen pouring their heartfelt tribute to the late actor.
While the Russo Brothers, who directed Robert Redford in Captain America: Winter Soldier, shared a throwback picture with the legendary actor, DC co-CEO James Gunn shared a heartfelt note, remembering the actor.
Russo Brothers Remember Robert Redford in Nostalgic Post
Both Joe and Anthony Russo, who worked with Redford in Captain America: Winter Soldier, took to their official Instagram page and shared a throwback picture featuring the late actor with Robert Downey Jr. Sharing the picture, the Russo Brothers recalled the time they shared together while filming for the MCU film.
“We are deeply saddened by the passing of the incomparable Robert Redford—a true legend whose acting and directing inspired us throughout our careers. His legacy will live on through his extraordinary films, his incredible performances, his tireless activism, and the profound influence that Sundance has had on the trajectory of the industry and the lives of thousands of filmmakers,” they wrote in the heartfelt note. “There are very few people who have impacted modern storytelling as significantly as Robert … and we are deeply grateful for our time with him,” they added.

James Gunn Pays Tribute To Robert Redford
Taking to his X handle, DC co-CEO James Gunn paid tribute to the late actor in an emotional post and shared his favourite Robert Redford films. Sharing a picture of Redford, Gunn wrote, “I grew up with his movies: his quiet, unforced performances and ever-present grace. He was THE movie star and will be greatly missed. Rest in Peace, Robert.”
Gunn then went on to list his top 10 favourite Redford movies. “If you want to watch a Redford movie that isn’t The Sting or Butch Cassidy, here are ten I love: Three Days of the Condor. All the President’s Men. The Natural. All Is Lost. Ordinary People. Brubaker. Jeremiah Johnson. Barefoot in the Park. Captain America: The Winter Soldier. The Candidate”, he wrote.

Robert Redford was one of the most iconic actors, filmmakers and producers of Hollywood, who started his career in television before making his film debut in 1962 with War Hunt. Throughout his career Redford has received numerous accolades, including an Academy Award for Best Director for his film Ordinary People, one BAFTA Award and five Golden Globe Awards. He also received the Kennedy Centre Honours and Presidential Medal of Freedom, among other awards.
