Marks and Spencer shoppers love 'good quality and versatile' car coat

With the seasonal weather really settling in, it might be time to update your wardrobe.

The autumn weather can be changeable – warm one day, and cool the next, so it pays to have a versatile coat.

If you’re looking for a good quality and unique coat to pair with your favourite fall outfits, Marks and Spencer shoppers think they’ve found the perfect one.

The Cotton Rich Stormwear Car Coat comes in sizes 6-24, and is perfect for rainy autumn days.

It’s long sleeves will keep you warm, and it’s waterproof, making it ideal if you’re caught out in a shower.

The product description reads: “Be ready for cooler weather with this cotton-rich car coat. This button-through style is cut in a regular fit. We’ve styled it with raglan sleeves for a relaxed feel and a neat collar.

“Plus, there are practical side pockets as well as an internal pocket. A water-repellent Stormwear technology helps you stay dry.”

It comes in two colours: navy and buff, an off white, and costs €94.

You can shop it here.

Shoppers were very happy with their purchases. “Really versatile smart coat. Perfect for Autumn days when it’s not cold enough for a wool coat, or warm enough for a jacket. I love it,” said one happy customer in an online review on Marks and Spencer’s website.

“Ordered the navy version. It is fabulous – great quality, shape and very smart. I strongly recommend as part of an autumn wardrobe. It is generous in size,” another shopper added.

“Smart looking coat. Practical, lightweight and comfortable. Great for Autumn,” said another.

Another person was similarly pleased, calling it a beautiful coat. “Beautiful coat, can wear dressed or casual, definitely worth every penny. Great fit as usual with M&S, would recommend.”

However, some people felt the sizing was off. “Lovely good quality Mac, I am 5ft 7 and a standard high street 14. The Mac was far too big and the sleeves down to my fingertips. Such a shame as the size 12 since has been out of stock,” said one person who wasn’t happy.

One shopper advised sizing down. “Tried this coat on in store, I am normally a size 10/12 but after trying a size 10 which swamped me, I bought an 8. Sleeves still far too long but went with it. I am 5ft 6ins so not short.

“Got a second opinion from my sister who said to try a petite size 6! Sadly not available as petite but managed to order a size 6 for collection in store. Sleeves a much better length and the fit much smarter.”

If you’re looking for a similar mac style coat in a different colour, Next have a good option. Their Shower Resistant Trench Coat comes in sand, khaki green, berry red and black.

It costs €84 and comes in sizes 6-22, with petite and regular options available.
