A massive number of Disney stars shamed the company for putting Jimmy Kimmel on an indefinite hiatus, and now, Mark Ruffalo has joined the discussion. The late-night host was suspended by ABC after he commented on the assassination of Charlie Kirk.
Mark Ruffalo is most well-known in the MCU for his role as the Hulk and is among the many actors who condemned the company. Along with defending Kimmel, the actor issued a different type of warning for Disney. Ruffalo shared a post on Threads that spoke about Disney’s rapidly dropping stock. The report claimed that the company’s stock was down by 7%.
Ruffalo stated in his post that if ABC doesn’t reinstate Jimmy Kimmel, Disney’s stock will only continue to drop. Check out his warning below:
It’s going to go down a lot further if they cancel his show. Disney does not want to be the ones that broke America.
What Ruffalo’s Warning Means For Disney
It’s been pretty clear that Disney isn’t doing well in the court of public opinion recently. And, now, their financial stability is taking a hit. The stock market can be relatively unpredictable at times. However, the industry giant’s stock going down is not a surprise to anyone, likely not even to Disney itself.
Disney, like any other entertainment company, relies on its consumers. Some of their most beloved stars, the ones that drew people to the franchises they represented, withdrew their support and services. Fans who were once loyal to Disney are canceling their subscriptions to anything that is owned by or associated with the studio.
Our Take on Ruffalo’s Warning To Disney
Ruffalo is absolutely right. Disney is losing more and more supporters by the minute. The longer they hold off on making a deal with Kimmel, the more money they’ll lose. Although it would realistically take the company a very long time to actually go broke, this is still not a great situation for them to be in.
Having their former stars leave and taking their fans with them is a huge loss for them. Pedro Pascal, publicly condemning the studio, doesn’t just remove him from the picture. A decent chunk of his fans left with him. And, we can’t forget about She-Hulk actress Tatiana Maslany. She took to social media and encouraged her followers to unsubscribe from Disney+.
At the end of the day, Disney didn’t just lose money. It lost the people who helped shape its many franchises, its fans, and its reputation due to something that was completely avoidable. Instead of standing up for its people, it caved under pressure. If Disney continues to drag its feet regarding the Kimmel situation.
Ruffalo’s words don’t just serve as a warning; they’re also a haunting prediction. If Disney isn’t careful about its next move, then who knows what kind of riot it will have to face.
