Dallas Mavericks minority owner Mark Cuban expressed a condition that would trigger him to run for the U.S. presidency. Talking to ESPN analyst Stephen A. Smith on his show, Cuban said that he may not want to become a president but would gladly run for the position if current head-of-state Donald Trump runs for his third term. "I don't want to be president. That is not my lifetime goal," Cuban said. "The only way I would run is if Donald Trump tried to run for a third term because that would be wrong in my opinion. That's the only thing that would get me to run."A president could only serve for two terms in the current U.S. Constitution unless the government changes the 22nd Amendment of the ConstitutionCuban also made it clear that he is not into party politics and would love to get rid of it."I'm not a democrat. I'm not a republican. I'm an independent," Cuban said. "If it is up to me, I'd get rid of both parties. While I'm a huge fan of president (Barack) Obama, I don't that is what the American people want. If the current president tried to run again, there would a lot of party politics and I think the American people would want something different."Cuban had been one of the most popular team owners in the NBA during his time with the Mavericks. In 2023, he sold his majority share of the team to Miriam Adelson and Patrick Dumont, making Cuban now just a minority stake owner. The Mavericks are currently on an early-season slump, winning only three of their 10 games to open the season. Mark Cuban reveals biggest Mavericks' misconception about Luka DoncicMark Cuban has long adored Luka Doncic, whom he helped the Mavericks draft in 2018. According to Cuban, there has been one Dallas misconception about Doncic that the Mavericks failed to realize. "Everybody saw him. It wasn’t like he was ripped and had a six-pack but what the biggest mistake was in trying to understand Luka is that he’s from the Balkans, he’s Slovenian," Cuban said. "You look at Nikola Jokic, who’s Serbian, and you look at Serbian players in general, they’re just a different mindset. They look at the game differently, they look at life differently, the guys that I’ve gotten to know from that from that region of the world are different."The team traded Doncic in February for a package headlined by Anthony Davis, following reported concerns about his weight and injury potential. Now, the team is reeling from a bad start this season as they deal with a slew of injuries on their roster.
