Marjorie Taylor Greene Says She Sometimes Hates Republican Party

House Republican Marjorie Taylor Greene admitted that “many times I hate my own party, and I blame Republicans for many of the problems that we have today” during an appearance on Tucker Carlson’s show on Wednesday. Newsweek contacted Representative Greene and the Republican Party for comment, via email and online inquiry form respectively, on Thursday outside of regular office hours. Why It Matters Until recently Greene, from Georgia, had a reputation as one of President Trump’s most loyal supporters in the Congressional Republican Party. However, in recent months she has broken with the president on a range of issues including the Jeffrey Epstein files, health care subsidies and the Israel-Hamas war, sparking primary calls from some in the GOP. What To Know Discussing the GOP on Tucker’s show on Tuesday Greene said: “Americans got to the point where electing Donald Trump was a referendum on the Republican Party. And I very much feel that, because many times I hate my own party, and I blame Republicans for many of the problems that we have today.” She continued: “I blame them for being so America last to the point where they are literally slaves to all the big industries in Washington, the military industrial complex, big pharma, health insurance industries, you name it. They are literally slaves to them, and they love foreign war so much.” Greene also took aim at prominent Republican politicians commenting: “These people are so fake. “The only reason that they kiss up to Donald Trump, our president, the only reason they kiss up to him, is because they're terrified of a Truth Social post, because they're terrified of their own constituents that fully support MAGA, that fully support America First and fully support everything that Donald Trump has laid out now for years and years.” In July, Greene accused Israel of committing “genocide” in Gaza and called for an end to U.S. military aid to Israel. She has also clashed with the Trump administration over convicted sex offender Epstein and was one of only four Republicans to sign a discharge petition to try and get files related to his case released, which Trump has branded a “hoax.” Greene also campaigned for the extension of Affordable Care Act subsidies initially introduced as a temporary measure during the coronavirus pandemic, opposing her party. In a post on X she wrote: “I’m going to go against everyone on this issue because when the tax credits expire this year my own adult children’s insurance premiums for 2026 are going to DOUBLE, along with all the wonderful families and hard-working people in my district.” Speaking to The Daily Mail in August Greene said she was “really sick and tired” of the way women were treated within the GOP, adding she wasn’t sure whether “the Republican Party is leaving me, or if I’m kind of not relating to the Republican Party as much anymore.” Greene has repeatedly clashed with Trump loyalist Laura Loomer, who she suggested was “bankrolled” by Israeli intelligence. In response Loomer branded Greene a “low life degenerate” and said she would file an ethics complaint. What People Are Saying Greene William F. Hall, an adjunct professor of political science and business at Webster University in St. Louis, previously told Newsweek: "Although, in the past, she has consistently been among President Donald Trump's most reliable and staunchest supporters, as well as a very vocal and outspoken critic of U.S. involvement in foreign wars, she currently finds herself in a predicament of having to choose between continuing to honor her past positions of being staunchly against further U.S. involvement in foreign wars…and continuing her staunch unwavering support for President Trump's policy positions, including his evolving policy with respect to potential engagements in foreign wars in the Middle East region." In a post on X made on October 18 Greene said: “When you refuse to bow to the Uniparty, they try to destroy you. I’ve seen it first hand. They’re attacking me because I refuse to play their games. Because I won’t trade my integrity for approval. Because I fight for you, not them.” What Happens Next It remains to be seen whether Greene will continue her current political journey, putting her at odds with a section of Trump’s MAGA movement. Some on the right, including influential X poster Catturd, have already called for her to face a primary challenge.
