Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) on Tuesday made her first appearance on what, in years past, would have been the most unlikely of places: ABC‘s The View. She also continued her criticism of recent weeks, directed not so much at Democrats but House Speaker Mike Johnson and the GOP’s failure to address healthcare reform with their own proposal. “We should all be at work,” Greene, sitting at the center of The View co-hosts, said. “All the people in this audience, they go to work every day. People at home watching this show, they go to work every day. Ladies, you go to work every day. The people on your set. And it is an embarrassment to me that we are not in session and getting paid.” Greene said she has not been taking a paycheck since the government shut down at the end of October, as Democrats demanded that the GOP address the expiration of subsidies to the Affordable Care Act. After years of being a GOP firebrand on the attack against the left, during the protracted government shutdown she’s popped up on mainstream media, including CNN, to criticize the GOP for not addressing Democrats’ warnings of the pending spike in Obamacare premiums. Johnson has not called the House back to Washington since September 18. Even though the government is shut down, the Senate has been doing committee work and holding floor votes. “Maybe you should become a Democrat, Marjorie,” Joy Behar said at one point. “I’ll say this: I think both parties have failed,” Greene said. Whoopi Goldberg asked her about President Donald Trump’s promises that he would lower grocery prices on day one, yet inflation continues to rise. “Millions have lost their food stamps and are about to lose their health care while we’re watching $40 billion to bail out Argentina. What is going on?” Greene responded, “I don’t know. I am so America first. I just feel like I live it and breathe it, and that’s my district, and that’s what people want. They are so tired of their hard-earned tax dollars being sent overseas, foreign wars and foreign aid and causes, while life in America just becomes more and more unaffordable.” Greene said she still loves Trump, but asked by Behar whether “he may not love you back right now,” she said, “That’s okay. I mean, Donald Trump, he usually yells at everybody, so we are all used to it. But he’s the president of the United States.” Greene also said that she wanted all federal employees to be paid for the time they have been furloughed during the shutdown. “I’m with women, so I feel very comfortable saying this: I’m really tired of the pissing contest in Washington, DC between the men. I really am,” Greene said.
