“We have approximately 1,600 people working for the organization in Romania. We have three production plants and we have a central office with support functions here in Bucharest. I think it has become pretty fashionable to call culture now people oriented. We are actually a growth centric culture. The growth of the business can only happen if our people grow and they are willing to engage towards the growth of the organization. In order for us to invest there is a whole engine working to invest into the development of the people. As a result, I’m really proud to say that over 80-90 percent of the hiring we do in the organization are internal,” said Marina Gainova, People & Culture Director, Coca-Cola HBC at People Empowering Business Forum organized by The Diplomat-Bucharest. Key statements: Another important thing is the engagement. To me it’s a fundamental thing where these people need to want to grow and they really want to grow the business. So, this is why real dialogue and constant communication with the people in all sorts of forms is something which is definitely practiced across the organization. There is a constant listening and feedback mechanism and we’re trying to make sure that people are recognized for delivering the growth. The whole reward system is operating not only to pay the people the salary but to target people to grow and for them to feel rewarded in a financial sense and also recognized in a feeling good tap on the shoulder. We are very sales oriented but are also very KPI oriented business, and our philosophy is what is measured gets done and it gets growing in the end. So we also have ways to measure how people feel and we have our regular engagement surveys. These surveys tell us really well what’s the pain points. For example, the pain points that we have now are about energy. So people feel that we are like a big engine and we’re running thousands of miles an hour and people sometimes feel that they are not able to keep the energy throughout the whole day. So, there are a lot of things we are trying to do now in my team to help people address that. Another opportunity that we see is to simplify. We are very complex. There’s a lot of things which are happening. The portfolio is increasing every day. Our ambition is growing every day and people are striving to get a bit of simpler life.
