Manchester City open to offers for Tottenham target; €30-35 million touted

Manchester City ready to cash in on Tottenham Hotspur-linked Nathan Ake for €30-35 million in January The Lewis Family pumped £100 million equity into Tottenham Hotspur in October, setting their sights on reaching unprecedented heights. They want to implement higher standards at the club with a renewed transfer strategy and vision under Thomas Frank. Spurs targeted experienced and readymade players more in the past summer transfer window, bringing in the likes of Joao Palhinha, Mohammed Kudus and Randal Kolo Muani. The plan behind to do so was to immediately improve the first XI after a disastrous 2024/25 Premier League campaign. So far, the plan has worked out well, with Kudus and Palhinha emerging as the standout performers in Thomas Frank’s side. Given there is always a worry over the fitness of centre-back duo Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven, Tottenham are planning to invest in a new defender in January. Kevin Danso has done well when deputising for the injured Romero in few games, but with the likes of Radu Dragusin and Kota Takai not playing a single minute thus far due to injury problems, the Lilywhites want to address the lack of depth. Manchester City open to offers for Tottenham-linked Nathan Ake in January Tottenham were interested in signing Manchester City defender Nathan Ake in the summer transfer window. But a move did not materialise as Manchester City wanted to hold onto Nathan Ake after loaning out to Manuel Akanji to Inter Milan. The Netherlands international has started just two out of 10 Premier League games this season. With intense competition at Man City, the 30-year-old has been used as a squad option by Pep Guardiola. In a bid to make it to the Netherlands squad for next summer’s World Cup, Ake wants regular game time and is seeking a change of scenery in January. According to an exclusive report from CaughtOffside, Man City are willing to cash in on Ake for a fee of around €30m-€35m during the winter window. Clubs such as Inter Milan, Juventus, and Crystal Palace are all preparing to battle for the experienced defender. Tottenham could do well by entering the race for the Dutchman. Ake is an established, experienced and versatile defender who has won multiple trophies at the Etihad Stadium. The Hague-born star is inching closer towards 250 Premier League appearances, and that coupled with his winning mentality and ability to operate as a left-back, would appeal to Thomas Frank. Spurs require depth in central defence to be competitive for the second half of the season, and signing someone like Ake would represent terrific business. The ex-Bournemouth man may be 30 but he can easily deliver two to three years of high-quality football. As several clubs are circling the City man, the Lilywhites must take up the initiative of signing him in 2026.
