Man Who Shouted Offensive Taunts at Dave Portnoy Arrested

Police in Mississippi have arrested a man who was allegedly seen on video shouting antisemitic slurs at Barstool Sports founder Dave Portnoy. TMZ reported Monday that the Starkville Police Department arrested Patrick McClintock, 20, and charged him with disturbing the peace. McClintock is accused of yelling “F–k the Jews” and throwing coins at Portnoy as he filmed a Barstool “One Bite Pizza Review” outside of Boardtown Pizza & Pints in Starkville last Friday. According to The Reflector, the student newspaper of Mississippi State University, McClintock is a junior mechanical engineering major at the instiution. Incident could meet bias criteria Brandon Lovelady, the Starkville Police Department’s public information officer, told TMZ that the incident remains under investigation and the state of Mississippi “allows courts to impose enhanced penalties if a violation meets the criteria for bias-motivated or discriminatory reasons.” “Every person has the right to feel safe and respected in our community,” Lovelady said. “Offensive words alone are protected, but when behavior disrupts a public event or risks violence, the Starkville Police Department will take steps to help maintain safety and security.” McClintock’s bail has reportedly been set at $2,500. Antisemitism an ‘every day’ issue, Portnoy says Portnoy and the Barstool contingent were in Starkville ahead of Saturday’s college football game between Mississippi State and the University of Georgia. In an interview with CBS News’ Tony Dokoupil that was taped before Friday’s encounter, Portnoy said he’s experiencing antisemitism “every day now” and added he has noticed a “definitive shift.” “For me, being a Jewish person, like, you got to step up,” Portnoy told Dokoupil. “You’re kind of someone people look up to in the Jewish community. You have to be, like, ‘All right, this is not normal ha-ha with the guys. People are coming up with real hate.'” Not the first time this has happened to Portnoy The incident in Starkville was not the only time Portnoy has experienced public antisemitism caught on camera in the last six months. Back in June, Portnoy was filming a pizza review outside Terrazza in Toronto in front of a small crowd. During the session, a passer-by shouted “F–k the Jews” at the 48-year-old media star. “There we go,” Portnoy said, pointing at the person before admonishing a group of young fans who were laughing. “What are you guys f—–g laughing about?” Portnoy asked. When the fans immediately grew silent, Portnoy responded “Exactly.”
