Man Utd take action after backlash to Amad’s Alejandro Garnacho message

Manchester United have reached out to offer Amad support after he was on the receiving end of online abuse over the weekend. Amad deleted all his Instagram posts after United fans criticised his decision to share a photo of himself with Alejandro Garnacho . The United winger posted a photo of himself posing with Garnacho’s Chelsea shirt alongside his former team-mate, who was holding up his United shirt. The meeting between the two came after United beat Chelsea 2-1 at Old Trafford in the Premier League on Saturday. Although he didn’t get onto the pitch after Robert Sanchez’s early red card for Chelsea, it was Garnacho’s first trip back to his former club following a £40million transfer in the summer. Amad is friends with the Argentina international, who is also represented by the same agency, but the post did not go down well with fans. The 23-year-old was abused by some supporters and reacted by deleting all his Instagram posts and all but one of his posts on X. The Sun reports that United checked on him on Monday and offered support. Despite his reaction to the backlash, Amad is understood to be okay. After playing the full 90 minutes against Chelsea, he will be hoping to keep his place in the side for when United travel to face Brentford in the league on Saturday. United have a full week to prepare for the trip to west London, having already been knocked out of the Carabao Cup. While most Premier League sides are involved in the third round competition in midweek, United were beaten on penalties by Grimsby Town in the second round in August. Amad has featured in all six of their matches so far this season, starting all but one fixture. He has so far contributed just one assist for the struggling side, who sit 11th in the Premier League following their second win of the campaign on the weekend. Garnacho left United under a cloud in the summer after falling out with Amorim in the final few games of last season. The 21-year-old was told he had no future at the club and became a part of the ‘bomb squad’, forced to train with fellow exiles Marcus Rashford , Jadon Sancho, Antony and Tyrell Malacia. Garnacho was only made two brief substitute appearances for Chelsea so far, against Brentford and Bayern Munich , and stayed on the bench at Old Trafford following Sanchez’s early red card for denying a goalscoring opportunity.
