Man United news: Dressing room verdict of Amorim's system emerges as Zidane talk swirls

Manchester United hit another low point on Saturday as they were beaten 3-1 by Brentford . Red Devils manager Ruben Amorim had succeeded in easing some pressure following the previous week’s victory over Chelsea , but that relief proved short-lived. Keith Andrews’ side ultimately cruised to victory after Bruno Fernandes missed a penalty. Amorim finds his already precarious position under threat once again. United languish in 14th position in the Premier League table, having managed just two victories throughout the entire campaign. With Amorim’s 3-4-3 formation facing criticism, new acquisition Bryan Mbeumo has revealed his perspective on the tactical approach. Zinedine Zidane has also ended his silence whilst speculation continues to link him with the United job . Here, The Manchester Evening News examines the latest developments emerging from Old Trafford . Mbeumo has not made the flying start he was expected to after joining from Brentford in the summer. But he refuses to blame Amorim’s favoured 3-4-3 formation. “Of course, it’s a little different for me, but I’ve been playing this system in the past as well,” he told Sky Sports . “Obviously, we have a lot of things, but it’s our responsibility to find the good things and to be better, I think. I don’t think there is anything [wrong] about the system, it’s just us improving in certain areas. “Of course it will improve, we haven’t played a lot together, so there are certain things that we’re going to improve, and there are different types of players, but it’s good to be with them.” Zidane has broken his social media hiatus this week. The French World Cup winner shared a snapshot on Instagram posing against the New York City skyline. Whilst he appears to be relishing his downtime, fans will undoubtedly be monitoring the 53-year-old’s next steps closely. This post is his first personal one in a week, sparking speculation that its timing coincides with renewed rumours about him taking over at United. However, his representative, Alain Migliaccio, had previously stated that Zidane was not keen on managing in the Premier League. “I do not think that he will manage in England. It is much less his style. I have discussed it with him,” he said. “It does not really attract him.” If Amorim is shown the door at United, potential successors include Crystal Palace’s Oliver Glasner and former England manager Gareth Southgate. However, United have also been linked with Bournemouth boss Andoni Iraola. The Cherries currently sit sixth in the Premier League after suffering just one defeat this season and ex-United shot-stopper Foster reckons the Spaniard could be the man to turn United’s fortunes around. “Iraola is the one for me,” he said on the Ben Foster – The Cycling GK podcast . “To lose half your squad, half your starting line-up, and then still be just as impressive, for me, that means you’re a proper coach. But if they’re trying to get Iraola or Glasner then it’s going to cost an awful lot of money.” Foster also put forward the idea of former England manager Southgate stepping into the role at Old Trafford. He added: “I just think with Gareth Southgate, it’s so different to what they’ve ever done and what they’re doing isn’t working.” Here at the Manchester Evening News, we’re dedicated to bringing you the best Manchester United coverage and analysis. _Make sure you don’t miss out on the latest United news by joining our free WhatsApp group.
