Kobbie Mainoo could see his Manchester United future decided quickly when the January transfer window opens, according to the latest reports. Sky Sports journalist Sacha Tavolieri claims Napoli are still in contact with the United midfielder’s entourage having tried to sign the 20-year-old during the summer transfer window. The report suggests that a loan move is being considered, which would give Mainoo the game-time he desires and continue his development. Antonio Conte is looking to conclude a deal quickly. If Mainoo is to seal a move to the Serie A club, he would reunite with former Reds midfielder Scott McTominay in Naples. He has become a huge fan favourite since his move to Napoli. The Scotland midfielder played a key role in their Serie A title-winning campaign last season, having been deemed surplus to requirements at Old Trafford . Mainoo has not yet started a game for Ruben Amorim’s side in the Premier League this campaign – playing just 113 minutes in the top-flight so far this season. The England international asked to leave United this summer for guaranteed game-time, but the club wanted him to stay and fight for his place. Speaking in the final week of the window, Amorim said: “I want Kobbie to stay. He needs to fight for his place, and we need Kobbie. So that is not going to change. “The rest I don’t know how it’s going to finish. I understand that the players that are not playing in this moment are disappointed, but everyone has the same opportunity to play. You have to fight during the week.” Here at The Manchester Evening News , we are dedicated to bringing you the best Manchester United coverage and analysis.
