Queensland police have charged a man who allegedly kidnapped and raped a woman on the Sunshine Coast on Thursday night.

Police allege the 33-year-old man entered a business on Maud Street in Maroochydore about 10:30pm.

The man allegedly threatened a female staff member with a firearm before sexually assaulting her at the premises, then forcing her into her vehicle.

Police say the man drove south to Brisbane with the woman before returning to the Sunshine Coast.

Officers tracked the vehicle to a park on Syd Lingard Drive in Buderim and arrested the man at 2am on Friday.

The woman was taken to hospital, where she is receiving medical treatment and professional support.

The man has been charged with three counts of rape, two counts each of sexual assault while armed and armed robbery, and one count each of kidnapping, deprivation of liberty, enter premises with intent, unlawful possession of a weapon, unlawful use of a motor vehicle and unlicensed driving.

He is due to appear before the Maroochydore Magistrates Court on Friday.
