Man seriously injured after being struck by car in Manchester city centre

A man remains in hospital with serious injuries after being struck by a car in Manchester city centre on Monday morning (October 27). Part of Upper Brook Street was closed off by emergency crews and police and paramedics attended the scene. It followed reports of the crash at around 8.30am. Images from the scene showed a large police response, including officers from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit (SCIU), and the road taped off in both directions. Join the Manchester Evening News WhatsApp group HERE Greater Manchester Police have confirmed that a pedestrian, a man, remains in hospital after suffering serious injuries in the crash. The driver of the car, who remained at the scene, was not arrested and is assisting with enquiries, the force added. Investigations remain ongoing. A van was also involved and was pictured within the cordon before it was later recovered. A stretch of Upper Brook Street, which runs adjacent to Oxford Road at the back of Manchester University, was taped off for a number of hours Booth Street East.
