A husband has caused quite a stir after he gutted the bathroom in his marital home while his wife was on holiday, leaving many people with the same reaction. Bathroom renovations can be a messy and expensive business, requiring careful planning to ensure everything runs smoothly . One man, however, decided to take the bull by the horns and completely overhaul his bathroom while his wife was away. Clayton Juarez, who shares his DIY exploits online as The Weekend Builder, posted a video of himself tearing out the shower unit, knocking part of a wall down, tiling, redesigning the vanity unit, and much more. He shared an edited video of the bathroom makeover on TikTok , perfectly timed to the 1999 hit song All Star by Smash Mouth, well-known from the opening scene of the beloved 2001 family film, Shrek . Clayton installed new laminate flooring over the existing floor in the bathroom and even fitted a new, freshly tiled shower suite after successfully removing the top half of a wall to create a pony wall feature. Over the footage of him hard at work, he added text that read: "POV: Your wife wanted a vacation so you renovated the bathroom." In the caption accompanying the video, he wrote: "I'm gonna need some time to emotionally recover from this..." The footage struck a chord with millions across social media , amassing more than 8.9 million views. In the comments section, TikTok users were eager to voice their opinions, with numerous viewers astonished at how straightforward such a major refurbishment appeared to be. One observer simply noted: "American houses look too easy to build". Another commented: "As someone who doesn't live in America, it feels very weird to see this guy just ripping a wall off with his hands this easily". A third said: "Houses made of paper... I'm too European for this." Someone else had grown fed up of these remarks and said: "Yes guys, we get it. American houses are paper [sobbing face emoji] y'all say this every damn renovation video, I'm surprised you're still shocked by it." Directly beneath this response, another person added: "American houses being made of paper shocks me every time." While another said: "All the non-Americans saying how cheap and easy American homes seem... wait till you find out how much they cost. It's not just healthcare that's a scam here." However, others were taken with the craftsmanship on display and the superior standard of the final outcome. One viewer said: "Everything about this is impressive, down to the editing." Another joked: "So.. she gets a vacation AND comes home to this?! All I got when I was married was weaponised incompetence." Another person queried: "Do you have a tutorial for other husbands to learn??" One quipped: "I'd be way happier with this than a vacation." A further comment read: "Where can I buy a man like him????" A TikTok user simply remarked: "Your wife is so lucky."
