A Harvey man killed with three others in a crash Oct. 30 worked at a farm not far from the accident site. He leaves behind 5 children. KANKAKEE COUNTY — A man killed along with three other people in a head-on crash last week in Kankakee County had come to the United States legally two years ago to build a better life for his family, according to a fundraiser. Rafiq Muhammad, 51, of Harvey, was a devoted husband and loving father of five young children, the GoFundMe reads. He was "full of hope and determination," and came to "work hard and build a better future for his family." At approximately 10:20 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 30, Kankakee County Sheriff’s deputies were called for a two-vehicle crash near the intersection of 18000 West and 2000 South Road, in Reddick, a small town south of Braidwood. Muhammad was driving a Chevy Equinox that was struck by a Honda Accord that had been driving erratically before hitting the Equinox head-on, the Kankakee County Sheriff's Office has said. Also killed in the Equinox was Inayatulla Khan, 66, of Aurora. Both men worked at a farm located along the same road where the crash occurred, 10 minutes away, family told Patch. The coroner's office identified the occupants of the Accord as driver Malik Parker and his 5-year-old daughter, Malia Parker. Muhammad's family started the GoFundMe to support his children amid their grief. As of Nov. 3, $8,400 has been raised. "He was a devoted husband and a loving father of five young children who now face life without their father’s warmth, strength, and support," the fundraiser reads. "This GoFundMe has been created on behalf of our family to help support Muhammad’s children during this heartbreaking time. All funds will go directly toward their care, education, and future needs as they begin to rebuild their lives. "No donation is too small, and every gesture of love, support, and prayer means the world to our family right now."
