Staff Reporter A MAN who tipped off the police about a woman allegedly dealing drugs in the Ongwediva area is himself in trouble after it was discovered that it was all an elaborate attempt to frame his former girlfriend and her current lover. Investigators acted on a tip-off about a female drug dealer. As it turned out, the woman – who was indeed found with illegal drugs – is the informant’s ex-girlfriend. However, the subsequent police investigation dismantled the entire conspiracy. It was found that the “informant” had orchestrated the alleged crime to frame his ex-girlfriend by hiring two accomplices: one to purchase the drugs, and the other to deliver the parcel to the woman under the pretence that it belonged to her and her current boyfriend. The parcel consisted of 45 grams of cannabis worth N$2,250 and 40 units of “Yes” cigarettes worth N$80. “The ex-boyfriend even transported the two men to the location to ensure that the delivery was carried out,” said the police. Meanwhile, the investigation has led to a new case against the alleged drug seller in a village near Ondangwa. He was found in possession of a foil containing 10 grams of cannabis worth N$500 and eleven units of “Yes” cigarettes worth N$22.All the suspects have been arrested.
