The sight of Palestine flags in areas of Derry is not an unusual sight to many. However, new artwork has been unveiled in various locations, with the artist behind it hoping it will help bring the reality of the impact of war to our own doorstep.
Artist Ciaran Dunlevy, 44, originally from Drogheda but living in Donegal, wanted to highlight the link between Western countries, their leaders and the devastation in Palestine.

He said: “I’m a pacifist artist. I want to show on a large scale with these images how people are directly or indirectly involved in a Genocide and controlled starvation. Indirectly they can be doing business with the country causing all the damage.”
“I feel we need to be on the right side of this, seeing the videos of so many innocent Children, Women and Men being killed, starved, used as target practice is soul destroying, I cannot continue to live in silence.”
“I don’t think staying silent anymore is an option. I think staying silent lets the abuse continue.”
Artwork has also appeared across several locations in Dublin.
