A 53-year-old man has appeared in private at Inverness Sheriff Court on a charge of the attempted murder of another man by stabbing him.
John Ryan, from Inverness, is accused of repeatedly striking 21-year-old Daniel Krogulek on the body with a knife or similar instrument to his severe injury and danger of his life on September 14 in a lane linking Madras Street and Nelson Street near to where Ryan lives in Maclennan Crescent.
The alleged offence was aggravated by a connection with serious organised crime.
His solicitor, John MacColl, made no application for bail.

Police taped off locations outside Mr Chips in Telford Street and streets around Grant Street and Madras Street in connection with the alleged stabbing.
Mr Krogulek was said by Police Scotland to be in a critical condition at the time but it is understood that his injuries are now no longer life-threatening.
Ryan also made a second appearance with two other men who were all charged with being concerned in the supply of cocaine and heroin at a house in Maclennan Crescent, Inverness on September 18.
The two co-accused were 22-year-old Adam Tulloch and 18-year-old Ishaaq Bernard, both of no fixed abode.
All three were remanded in custody.
