Man drowns and swimmers pulled from river

Emergency services rushed to Moore River in Guilderton, about 90kms north of Perth, after reports swimmers were struggling in the water about 10.10am on Tuesday.

A witness told the West bystanders pulled swimmers from the river and performed CPR until paramedics arrived.

It was reported ambulance crews used a defibrillator, but a 38-year old man could not be revived and died at the scene.

A St John WA spokesman said five crews were sent to the incident and two girls and a man aged in his 40s were taken to Joondalup Health Campus.

A woman aged in her 30s was rushed to Sir Charles Gardiner Hospital in a critical condition.

More to come.
