A 65-year-old man died after stray cows attacked him in the district on Friday (September 19, 2025).

The deceased was identified as Lakshmanan, a resident of Vazhavandhi in Yercaud, who was working on a farm as a security guard. On Thursday (September 18, 2025) evening he went for a walk. At that time, stray cows attacked each other. Suddenly, it attacked Lakshmanan and he sustained grievous injuries and succumbed to injuries at the hospital on Friday.

Following his death, local people protested before the Yercaud panchayat union office and demanded action against cattle owners who set them free to roam. The panchayat officials held talks with them and assured action. Based on that, they dispersed from the spot.
