Man dies after Arawak Cay shooting, one suspect held

A man died in hospital after he was shot at Arawak Cay early Sunday, police said. One man was in custody in relation to the shooting, police reported, adding that two other individuals were also injured during the incident. Police said that after 1:30 a.m., ShotSpotter technology detected shots in the area. “A male was in the area of Arawak Cay in his vehicle,” reported Superintendent Keno Demeritte at a press conference at the Criminal Investigations Department. “It's in the area where the food stalls are. ... His vehicle was approached by another unidentified dark-colored Japanese vehicle. “Two males emerged, fired upon his vehicle that he was in. He was then taken to PMH to seek medical attention. While there, some hours later, he succumbed to his injuries." Police said a man was stabbed, and another was struck with an object. They were also transported to hospital, where the stabbing victim remained in stable condition. The condition of the other individual was unknown. Police said they impounded a vehicle believed to have been used during the commission of the crime. Police reported that a 29-year-old man who sought medical attention was detained in connection with the investigation.
