A 32-year-old man died after the car in which he was travelling along with two others fell into the gorge on Yercaud Ghat Road on Saturday. The deceased has been identified as S. Prasanth, a resident of Perambalur district. He, along with R. Kavin (32), a resident of Chennai and A. Eswar (23), a resident of Kallakurichi district, was doing real estate business in Yercaud and was staying there. In the wee hours of Saturday, the trio headed to Perambalur in a car and Prasanth drove the car. While the car reached Kakkampadi, he reportedly lost control of the car, which fell into a 25-ft-deep gorge. As there was no light in the locality, the car was spotted only after two hours of the accident by commuters, who informed the Yercaud police. The police rushed to the spot and with the help of local residents, brought the three out of the car. However, Prasanth succumbed to his injuries. The other two were admitted to Yercaud Government Hospital. Police inquiries revealed that they were in an inebriated state. The police registered a case and are investigating further.
