Sentencing was adjourned until September 29.
Sergeant Dineen said that on July 22 2024, a woman reported that Aaron Sheehan assaulted her at Cork Simon Community.
CCTV showed him striking her multiple times. She had blood and cuts to her face and was attended to at Mercy University Hospital.
When speaking to gardaÃ, she alleged that Sheehan had also assaulted her on the same day at an unknown location near Marina market.
While sentencing on this matter was adjourned for the fortnight, the same man pleaded guilty to several shoplifting offences for which he was given a total sentence of five months.
The shoplifting offences related to meat products.
On March 16 at Tesco Express, South Main Street, he allegedly stole €171 worth of meat products.
Similar offences were alleged committed on other occasions, including €53 worth of meat products on March 18 at Aldi in Blackpool, €72 worth of similar goods on the same day at Tesco on Paul Street, and €27 worth of meat at Tesco Express again on June 12.
Diarmuid Kelleher, solicitor, said the accused had a very tough life from the beginning and that at the age of 17, he was in a very bad accident that resulted in him being on life support and losing his left eye.
He became addicted to medication and later to heroin. He is now clear of drugs and is on a methadone treatment programme.
