A man has been charged a year to the day after two girls died from injuries sustained in a house fire in Melbourne.
The blaze broke out at a home in Fergus Court, Sydenham, after 9.30pm on September 8, 2024.
Firefighters entered the home to find a five-year-old girl, a then-three-year-old boy, and a one-year-old girl.

All were treated at the scene before they were taken to hospital, where the two girls died on September 11 last year.
On September 11 this year, police revealed today, a 24-year-old man was charged with two counts of negligent manslaughter and one of negligently causing serious injury.
He was already in custody on unrelated matters and will appear in court on the fire-related charges on January 15 next year.

Last week a 26-year-old woman was also charged with the same offences.
She was granted bail and will appear in court on January 15 next year.
