The Hyderabad Narcotics Enforcement Wing (HNEW) and Charminar Police arrested a 46-year-old drug peddler and seized hydroponic marijuana, cash and other material worth ₹4 lakh, during a joint operation on September 25. The accused was identified as Ali Bin Hamid, a resident of Habib Nagar, Nampally, presently staying at P&T Colony, Suncity, Bandlaguda Jagir. Police said that Hamid was jobless and under severe financial strain and allegedly started peddling hydroponic marijuana and other cannabis through his contacts, including a supplier known as Captain alias OG Bro alias Farhan. According to investigators, Hamid sourced the drugs through ‘dead drops’ or local peddlers, packed them into small sachets and distributed them across Hyderabad. Orders were arranged via social media by Captain, while Hamid handled deliveries and payments. The money, collected in cash or online, was passed on to Captain’s associates Maaz and Moiz at a garment shop in Gulzar Houz before being routed back to the main supplier. During the operation, police seized 45 grams of hydroponic marijuana, 2 kgs of cannabis, a mobile phone, a scooter, and ₹1,03,500 cash. The HNEW appealed to the public, especially parents, to monitor their children’s activities closely and report any information related to drug abuse to their helpline at 8712661601.
