Every bargain hunter dreams of striking gold while rummaging through unwanted treasures at the charity shop. While this remains a pipe dream for most, one fortunate chap couldn’t believe his eyes after snagging a second-hand suit. The man revealed how he popped into his local Goodwill store and makes a point of checking the pockets on virtually every item he can lay his hands on – though he never discovered anything noteworthy until this moment. Taking to Reddit, he shared: “I’ve always seen posts of people saying to check pockets of like jeans/pants and what not at Goodwill and for the past year or two every time I’ve gone to thrift stores I’ve checked some of the pockets to some items. “So today, I decided to go to the suit section and started checking some of the inner pockets of the suits. On around my 10th suit jacket checked, I found this. It was bundled up and I thought at a quick glance it might’ve just been some fake bills.” The lucky shopper purchased the jacket and once he returned to his motor, he hastily rifled through the pockets to discover exactly how much cash he ‘earned’ from his bargain buy. The delighted man continued: “I was finally able to fully check it out and see that it was wrapped up in a bank envelope and $100 (£74) bills just kept appearing! “I thought it was literally just $200 (£148) cash which would’ve been unbelievably amazing on its own. But the fact that there was $500 (£371) more was insane. I genuinely cannot believe this. “This couldn’t have come at a better time. I have been low on funds lately and have been literally praying for something to come up and here it is.” One user responded to his post, saying: “Excellent! A few years back, we found $200 (£148) once in the inside pocket. Mostly we find obituary notices, prescription pill, or buttons. Of course, we purchased the jacket. We also check inside boots too. Ya never know.” Another user chimed in: “I search every time. All I’ve found in the last month is two pennies and one nickel, and several candy wrappers.” A third user shared: “Nice find. I bought a travel chest, that was suspiciously heavy at a Value Village in Seattle some years ago. “It was kind of halfway between an old steamer trunk and a suitcase but it was way too hefty to just be a normal piece of luggage. “Once I got it home and started poking at it with a handheld metal detector, I found it had old silver coins from Mexico sewn into the whole lining with a bunch of cardboard and extra padding so you couldn’t feel them. “This was way back in 2006 or thereabouts. I sold them for about $5,000 (£3,700). Best haul ever, for me.”
