KALAMAZOO, MI – A man has been arrested after shooting at bond agents who were attempting to pick him up at a Kalamazoo business. The bond agents attempted to pick up the man on Friday, Oct. 31, at the business, located at 2980 Business One Drive , according to the Kalamazoo County Sheriff’s Office. The incident occurred at 6:11 p.m. The bond agents are contracted to conduct warrant pickups when individuals violate the conditions of their bond, deputies said. While the agents tried to arrest the man, he allegedly fired two rounds at them through the window of the business he was occupying. Officers responded to the scene and locked down the area before a search warrant was executed. The man surrendered after multiple hours of negotiations. He was then taken into custody and held at the Kalamazoo County Jail without further incident. While responding to the incident, the Kalamazoo County Sheriff’s Office received assistance from the Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety, Kalamazoo Metro SWAT, Kalamazoo Township Police, Western Michigan University Public Safety, Life EMS, Michigan State Police, and Comstock Township Fire Department.
