A 25-year-old man has been arrested by police in connection with two overnight shootings in Brampton and Caledon, Ont., in October. On Oct. 26, two suspects in a silver BMW SUV arrived at a residence near Old School Road and Creditview Road in Caledon. Police said surveillance footage showed two suspects pouring an accelerant liquid on the driveway before setting it on fire. Then, they shot several rounds at the residence, police said. No injuries were reported in the incident, which occurred around 2:50 a.m. A short while later, police allege that the same suspects drove to a business near Advance Boulevard and Dixie Road in Brampton, where surveillance footage showed a suspect firing multiple rounds at the building from inside the vehicle. There were no reported injuries in this case either, according to police. Investigators from the 21 Division Criminal Investigation Bureau arrested Iqbal Bhangria from Brampton on Friday, and laid charges in collaboration with the Caledon OPP and Major Crime Unit. The suspect faces multiple charges, including intentionally discharging a firearm recklessly, arson, unauthorized possession of a firearm and uttering a forged document. He was held in custody, pending a bail hearing. Police are still searching for the identity and location of the second suspect in these shootings.
