Bulandshahr: A man was arrested in Uttar Pradesh’s Bulandshahr district after a video showing him spitting on rotis at a wedding ceremony went viral on social media. The accused, identified as Danish, was taken into custody on Sunday, officials confirmed. The video, which circulated widely on social media platforms, showed Danish spitting on rotis as he prepared them during a wedding event. The incident reportedly took place in the Pahasu police station limits of Bulandshahr district. Police take swift action Taking immediate cognisance of the viral footage, the Bulandshahr Police registered a case and arrested Danish. Senior police officer Dr. Tejveer Singh, Additional Superintendent of Police (Rural), confirmed the arrest and stated that the accused has been sent to jail pending further investigation. In a statement shared via the official Bulandshahr Police X (formerly Twitter) handle, Dr. Singh said, “A video showing a man spitting on rotis during a wedding ceremony in the Pahasu area has gone viral. The police registered an FIR against the accused and have arrested him. Further investigation is underway.” The viral clip prompted widespread outrage, with social media users demanding strict action against those engaging in such unhygienic and offensive acts, especially at public or family gatherings. Recurring incidents in Uttar Pradesh This is not the first time such an incident has been reported in the state. In August 2025, police in Baghpat district arrested another man after a video surfaced showing him spitting on rotis at a roadside eatery. Similarly, in May 2025, a man in Meerut faced arrest after allegedly engaging in the same act while preparing food. Law enforcement agencies across Uttar Pradesh have since reiterated their commitment to addressing such acts of public nuisance and ensuring food hygiene, particularly during community events. Investigation continues Authorities are now investigating the circumstances surrounding the Bulandshahr incident, including whether the act was deliberate or part of a pattern involving other individuals. The accused is expected to face charges under sections related to public health, nuisance, and intent to harm communal harmony. Local officials have also urged caterers and event organisers to ensure strict supervision of food preparation processes and to report any suspicious or unhygienic activity immediately to authorities. The arrest once again highlights the growing concern over food safety and hygiene at public gatherings and eateries, with authorities warning that such actions will invite strict legal consequences.
