Man arrested after biker killed in M6 crash near Walsall

A man has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving after a biker was killed in a fatal crash on the M6. The motorcyclist died following a collision with a lorry on Monday, October 6. It happened between J11 for Shareshill and J10, for Walsall , shortly before 3pm. Police previously said the driver of the lorry remained at the scene to help officers with their enquiries. A man has since been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving, police confirmed tonight. The 59-year-old suspect remained in custody this morning as police enquires continued. The family of the biker were being supported by specialist officers. A West Midlands Police spokesperson said: “A man has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving after a fatal collision on the M6. “The 59-year-old was arrested following yesterday’s collision with a motorcyclist near Junction 10 yesterday. He is in custody this morning while our enquiries continue. “The family of the man who died in the collision have been notified and are being supported by officers. Our thoughts are with them at this tragic time. “Officers from our Serious Collision Investigation Unit are investigating the collision which happened shortly before 3pm near Junction 10. “They are keen to speak to any drivers who were in the vicinity at the time and especially want to see any dashcam footage which could help with their enquiries.” A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokeswoman added: “On arrival, crews found a man in a critical condition. “The team of medics worked quickly to administer advanced life support on scene but sadly, despite their best efforts, nothing could be done to save the man and he was confirmed deceased a short time later at the scene.” Anyone with information about this tragedy should contact police by calling 101 and quote log number 3400 October 6.
