Man ‘Reveals’ Roasted Chickpeas Contain Harmful Chemicals Linked To Cancer: ‘Ghor Kalyug Hai’ | Video

Food adulteration in India has reached alarming levels. From vegetables polished with chemicals to fruits coated with wax for added shine, consumers unknowingly put their health at risk every day. What looks fresh or tasty in the market often hides dangerous substances beneath. Now, a recent video has revealed something even more disturbing: roasted chickpeas in the market, a popular and healthy snack, are allegedly being adulterated with harmful chemicals that could lead to cancer. The clip has left many people worried about what they have been consuming. Man Explains How Chickpeas Available In The Market Are Adulterated The video opens with a man claiming that most roasted chickpeas sold in markets are not pure at all. “Roasted chickpeas in markets are adulterated to the core and people hardly notice it,” he says. He points out several differences between natural and adulterated ones; the market variety looks bright yellow, unusually large and extremely crunchy. When crushed between fingers, it instantly turns into powder, unlike the real chana. Watch the video here: View this post on Instagram A post shared by Yatharth Today (@yatharthtoday) He explains that these chickpeas are coated with a chemical called auramine, which gives them the bright yellow colour. “The chemical looks like turmeric powder that is diluted and mixed into the chana,” he adds. According to him, this process makes the chana look fresh and appealing, but it is dangerous for health. The man warns that eating such chemically treated chickpeas for a long time can cause serious health problems, including the risk of developing cancer. Although auramine doesn’t affect the chickpea’s protein, fibre, or vitamin content, it can form harmful compounds in the body over time. How To Differentiate Real Chana From Fake The video also shares simple tips to help identify fake roasted chickpeas. Real chana is smaller, has a natural brown shade and doesn’t crumble easily when pressed. The adulterated version, on the other hand, is larger, bright yellow and unusually crunchy. The man advises people to roast chickpeas at home or buy raw ones and get them roasted in front of their eyes. “It’s safer and healthier,” he says. The video, shared on Instagram on October 24, has crossed over three million views, drawing thousands of reactions. A user wrote, “Har cheez me milawat ho rahi hai aur government bas tax lene se matlab rakhti hai.” Another said, “Why is every food adulterated? What will happen in India in future?” “Baat to sahi hai, but khaaye to khaaye kya?” commented another, summing up the growing public concern.
