A man has been arrested following a violent incident at the end of a hurling match at UPMC Nowlan Park in Kilkenny on Sunday. The match was a Leinster Club Senior Hurling Championship quarter-final between Ballyhale Shamrocks and Kilcormac Killoughey. Ballyhale Shamrocks won the game 0-25 to 1-18. As players from both teams clashed at the end of the game a fan can be seen running onto the pitch and begins directing punches at Ballyhale Shamrocks’ Adrien Mullen . The fan was swiftly removed from the pitch. Speaking to TG4 after the game, Ballyhale boss Henry Shefflin bemoaned the fact that his players got involved in the row, saying that there was “absolutely no need” to do so as the game had already been won. “A conflicting ending to the game, unsavoury scenes. Anyway, I am disappointed that my own club are involved and I am sure Kilcormac feel the same," added Shefflin. A gardai spokesperson confirmed to The Irish Mirror that a man had been arrested and charged in connection with the incident. "Gardaí have arrested a man (aged in his 40s) following a public order incident at a Kilkenny sports ground this afternoon, Sunday 9th November, 2025," the spokesperson said. "He has since been charged, and is scheduled to appear before the courts at a later date. "As this is now before the courts, there is no further information available at this time," the spokesperson added.
