Next door to the Balearic stand at the World Travel Market fair in London are the Greek and Turkish stands. Like good neighbours they are all very friendly but below the charm and kind words the two countries are on a mission, to take tourists away from Mallorca. Local hoteliers said this morning that both Turkey and Greece were fighting hard to take tourists away from Mallorca. The local hoteliers are not too concerned but the threat does exist and Mallorca should be on its guard. Overall, Mallorca hoteliers were upbeat. They are working long and hard to lengthen the season and they announced today that by February almost 50 percent of hotels will be open for business. The overall opinion in London is that Mallorca doesn’t really have to worry about the peak season. New flights from Canada and the Gulf have been welcomed adding to the direct flights from New York.
