Making Child Care Easier: How ABC Quality Supports Parents and Kids

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WIS) – Finding the right child care can be overwhelming, but one statewide program is making the process easier for parents across South Carolina.
ABC Quality, a program of the South Carolina Department of Social Services, helps families access affordable, high-quality child care while giving children the foundation they need to succeed beyond school.
Parents can visit ABCQuality.org to search for child care programs by zip code, compare providers by quality level, and even apply for child care scholarships directly online. The site also includes parenting tips and other helpful resources.
“Parents can see what programs are available in their area and feel confident about the quality of care their children will receive,” said Kathy Kovacs, program manager for ABC Quality. Local parent Andy Shelton agrees. His three children all attended ABC Quality-certified programs, and he says the experience gave them a strong foundation.
In addition to supporting families, ABC Quality also works closely with providers to ensure best practices in early childhood education. With resources for both parents and caregivers, ABC Quality is helping thousands of families across the Palmetto State make confident choices about child care. To learn more, visit ABCQuality.org.
