Charlie Kirk assassination live: Major update in FBI investigation
The FBI has provided the first details of the suspect in the assassination of US political activist Charlie Kirk along with a major update.

The rifle used in the assassination of conservative activist Charlie Kirk has been recovered in a wooded area where the “college-age” suspect is believed to have fled.
In a press conference on Thursday local time, FBI Salt Lake City special agent in charge
Robert Bohles said authorities have “recovered what we believe is the weapon in yesterday’s shooting, a high-powered bolt action rifle” as a manhunt for the shooter continued.
Investigators also have images of the suspect. Other evidence includes a palm imprint, a forearm imprint and a “footwear impression”.

Meanwhile, US President Donald Trump and first lady Melania Trump observed a moment of silence to remember the lives lost at the Pentagon when a hijacked American Airlines Flight 77 struck America’s national defense headquarters on September 11, 2001, killing 184 people.
He went on to announce that he will posthumously award the highest US civilian honor to Mr Kirk.
He earlier lashed out after the killing of Mr Kirk, who was 31-years-old, and he vowed to crack down on those responsible for what he described as “a dark moment for America.”
Mr Kirk, a powerful voice in conservative US politics, was fatally shot in the neck while speaking at an event at Utah Valley University on Wednesday. Video from the scene showed him addressing a large crowd when a single shot rang out.
