Commuters in Delhi should brace for traffic disruptions across central and south Delhi on Sunday, with the Delhi Traffic Police issuing multiple advisories warning of congestion and diversions due to four major public events and ongoing roadwork. The police have urged motorists to plan their travel, avoid affected stretches, and use public transport wherever possible. SCBA Run/Walkathon at 7 AM The day began with the first edition of the Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) Run/Walkathon – “Justice for All”, which kicked off at 7 am. To facilitate the event, movement was restricted on Tilak Marg, C-Hexagon, Mathura Road, Purana Qila Road, and adjoining routes. “For the convenience of the general public, traffic diversion will be imposed from 7 am to 9 am from W-Point to Tilak Marg Crossing, C-Hexagon, and Mathura Road towards C-Hexagon,” the advisory stated. Commuters heading towards Dhaula Kuan have been advised to take Vande Mataram Marg and Mother Teresa Crescent as alternate routes. Akon’s Concert at JLN Stadium Later in the day, American rapper-singer Akon will perform live at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium (JLN) on Lodhi Road in south Delhi from 5 pm to 10 pm. The concert is expected to draw a crowd of around 10,000 people, prompting the police to issue parking and entry restrictions. Entry for spectators will be permitted only through Gate Nos. 13 and 14. Parking facilities will be available at Gate Nos. 7 to 9 and SCOPE Complex MCD parking nearby. Traffic officials warned that stretches around Lodhi Road, B.P. Marg, and the CGO Complex may experience heavy congestion through the evening. Samay Raina’s Stand-Up Show at IG Indoor Stadium Traffic diversions have also been announced for comedian Samay Raina’s show, “Still Alive & Unfiltered,” being held at the Indira Gandhi Indoor Stadium at I.P. Estate near ITO. The show, which began on Saturday, will continue on Sunday, with restrictions in place from 1 pm to 11 pm. Traffic will be affected along I.P. Marg, Vikas Marg, and parts of the Ring Road, police said. Drainage Work Near Bangla Sahib Road In addition to the events, the improvement of the drainage system and construction of a U-drain near Panchkuian–Bangla Sahib Road in central Delhi will also impact traffic flow. Restrictions are expected on one or both carriageways from Outer C.C. Panchkuian Road towards Panchkuian Road, and vice versa. Advisory for Commuters The traffic police have urged residents to avoid these zones during event hours, particularly near ITO and Lodhi Road, and to rely on the Delhi Metro or other public transport options for convenience.
